About

Hi! I’m Jasmine.

Founder of The Kalon Edit, Taste Editor.

Where the eye was formed

Fashion, food, music and gathering were never separate subjects.

Where The Kalon Edit Began

I was born and raised in California, but grew up with a deep awareness of my Indian heritage, spanning Punjab and Kashmir. Fashion, food, music, and the art of gathering people together were part of everyday life.

The women in my family shaped the way I see those things. My grandmother cared about fashion: the textile, the embroidery, the jewelry, and the fitting. She and my mother care deeply about hosting, about prioritizing, and about how guests felt when they arrived and when they left. My grandmother taught me to appreciate Indian craftsmanship, from embroidery to jewelry. My mother and I hosted gatherings together, and afterward we always discussed what worked and what was memorable.

I attended countless weddings throughout my childhood and teenage years, and became interested in what made a celebration feel personal and unique.

Throughout my education and medical training, I maintained an interest in fashion. I modeled Indian runway couture, attended New York Fashion Week for many years, styled myself and my family, and began hosting gatherings of my own. I have always looked for ways to engage in artistic expression.

When I created my wedding, I brought together Punjabi heritage, Kashmiri artistic traditions, fine-art references, global fashion, music, cultivated global cuisine menus, designed and sourced jewelry, and styled my family. The wedding was featured in British Vogue, Vogue India, and Vogue (United States).

I founded The Kalon Edit to help clients figure out how to create celebrations that feel authentic to them. I work across fashion, jewelry, color, ritual, setting, food, music, and atmosphere, then make recommendations about what belongs together. The goal is not to copy a reference or follow a wedding formula. It is to create an event that feels personal, intentional, and unmistakably yours.

The name

Kalon (καλόν) is an ancient Greek word associated with beauty: something admirable in itself, distinguished by the excellence of its form. It also recalled my family name, Kahlon, which I have not had the opportunity to use. The word gave me a way to carry that connection forward in a form that felt both personal and global.
